Tips for Creating a Dream Bedroom
Your Bedroom Is Your Refuge
Your bedroom may not be visible to visitors to your home, but it’s one of the most important rooms in your house. A bedroom can be your sanctuary, or a peaceful oasis for overnight guests. It should express your personality and reflect your style. Today I’ll share some design tips from some beautiful bedrooms that the Design Connection Inc. team has created for our clients.
Choose Soothing Colors
This guest bedroom is built around a calming khaki color palette. We added ready-made bedding in lime green with black accents and coordinating khaki pillows. A fun accent pillow always adds pizzazz!
The headboard in an oatmeal linen fabric with wood trim in a deep ebony tone creates a focal point for the room.
Set a Mood
This bedroom is an ultra-feminine dreamspace. Design Connection Inc.’s client, who was building a house designed for her to age in place, wanted a elegant, soft and pretty bedroom for her new, one-story home. Together, we chose very feminine e aqua and cream for the color palette. We complemented the cream walls with custom bedding in an aqua hue and framed by soft chenille bed pillows. A traditional tufted bench at the end of the bed adds a finishing touch.
The gold accents on the dark wood nightstands pick up the gold tones of the lighting, that blends effortlessly into the design.
Create Impact with Bedding
Bedding was everywhere and full-on fantastic at the recent High Point Market event. This pattern mix of earth tones and vivid brights takes this bed to a whole new level of wow!

Texture meets tribal in this exotic combination. The taupe bedding becomes the palette for the anything-but-neutral print draperies. Pillows in a matching print and feathered effect amp up the impact.

Reflect Your Style
This Design Connection, Inc. client loves Tuscan-inspired style! She wanted and elegant and dramatic Mediterranean feel for her home and this bedroom has it all. We designed the furniture, which was hand-carved in Los Angeles. Custom pieces always add luxury to a room, and although they may take several months to complete, the end result is stunning. We carried the Tuscan treatment into the draperies with rich and elegant fabrics. To enhance the lighting and showcase the marble-topped nightstands, we selected scones for the walls instead of table lamps.
Sometimes, Less is More
High impact comes in many forms. For this recently completed project, the Design Connection, Inc. team chose beautiful high end furniture with dark espresso finish. In this case, the simplicity of the bedding highlights the quality. The fabrics are exquisite, and the detailing says it all!
Add Interest with a Fabric Headboard
An upholstered headboard is a fantastic way to add depth and focus with textured fabric. This client wanted a pale blue color scheme, which Design Connection, Inc, teamed with shades of cream and gray. The nubby fabric headboard adds interest, and complements the cream-colored draperies with a subtle blue stripe. The space called for smaller-scale nightstands, and wall scones keep the look sleek and open.
This custom built-in is the perfect double-duty option. Constructed of alder wood in a dark finish, its scale fits the space. The drawers are lined with cedar for storing woolens, and the bi-fold doors conceal a television.
No matter what your style, Design Connection Inc. can help you find the perfect design for your space. We excel at finding just the right touches to transform your home! It’s what we do, and we love what we do!
