A well thought-out remodel transforms your home from an ordinary house into your personal haven.

In this blog, I’ll take you behind the scenes of a recent Design Connection, Inc. first floor remodel and sunroom addition. We collaborated with general contractor David Wood on this project. Together, we created magic for our client – take a look!

The Master Plan: Sunroom Addition

Design Connection, Inc. developed the detailed plans to accommodate the sunroom. This client wanted a tailored, traditional style, throughout the main floor.

Fireplace Facelift

After the space was opened up for the sunroom addition, the living room fireplace got a facelift. We gutted the old fireplace and refaced it in a neutral beige stone. We continued the stone treatment on the walls and entrance framing the sunroom addition.

Before the renovation, the living room looked cramped – large pieces of furniture made the space feel stuffy. Design Connection, Inc.’s design concept scaled down the furniture and added depth and warmth.

Living Room Before

We added drapery over the shutters to flank the fireplace. Smaller, lower-scale pieces gave the living room more depth and added seating for entertaining and relaxing. With two couches, two chairs, two coffee tables and two ottomans, this room still feels open!

Living Room After

Sunroom

The sunroom addition turned out beautifully! Design Connection, Inc. incorporated shiplap on the walls to create interest and painted the walls and shiplap in the same beige tone to give the room a continuous feel. We added the four side chairs upholstered in a large-scale pattern in beige tones, and grouped them around an ottoman. The new room is a perfect place to read and relax!

The Finished Sunroom

Hearth Room

The beauty of a main floor renovation is the flow of the design from room to room. We continued the warm beige tones from the living room and sun room into the hearth room. Chairs from the living room in an outdated floral pattern were reupholstered in a tailored blue, and paired with ottomans for this comfortable and stylish space.
