Silver Linings of Design: Our 2020 Project Highlights
As we close out 2020, we’re sharing the “silver linings” of the Design Connection, Inc. team’s year – highlights from our favorite projects! We are grateful for our clients for their patience, compliance with health requirements and trust in our design capabilities as we transformed their homes. Take a look!
Down-to-Earth Meets High Style: Second Home Makeover
Design Connection, Inc. gave our client’s second home, a city condominium, a beautiful makeover. This Country Club Plaza condo was built 20 years ago, and was showing its age. The color palette reflected its early 2000’s origins.

Design Connection, Inc. refreshed the space with a neutral color palette and a design concept that emphasized our client’s lifestyle. Since our client’s first home is a working farm, we blended down-to-earth, stylish comfort with touches of femininity.
Living Room
Our client wanted a versatile space where her family could gather comfortably. This sectional in warm tones provides ample seating, with pillows in a rich mink tone and textured herringbone pattern.

We created this multi-purpose seating area, which is perfect for informal entertaining! The table height adjusts for high-boy cocktails, games and dining. The floral chair cushions add a feminine note.

Dining Room
Our client wanted a formal dining space with seating for eight. Design Connection, Inc, selected spa green chairs in a faux mohair fabric. The chairs bring a sense of elegance and serenity to the room.

First Home Makeover: Condo Master Bath
Over the past year, we have all redefined our relationships with our homes. Our client, a physician, purchased this condo close to her workplace. Relaxing and unwinding after a stressful day at the hospital is a priority for her. So a serene master bath with a custom-sized tub was at the top of her wish list.
The bathroom’s original colors and bathtub with a tile surround were not the spa look and feel our client envisioned for the space.

Spa Transformation
The existing cabinetry was in good condition. To save budget dollars for the custom finishes our client wanted, the Design Connection, Inc. team painted the cabinets in a sophisticated and soothing taupe and added hardware. We also painted the walls in a calming neutral tone.
Our client was delighted! The sleek and modern light fixtures are her favorite finishes.

Our client also loves the shower and bath options we designed. In the shower, we placed the tile vertically to continue the modern spa feel and to add height.

The custom, free-standing bathtub suits our client perfectly! Sized to her specifications, and framed by art, it’s the ideal spot for a well-deserved soak!

Feels-Like-New First Floor Home Remodel
Check out the before and after photos of this first floor remodel – they are amazing! Our clients loved the location of their home, but they wanted a makeover that would make the house feel like a new home.
Small details can make a huge difference. After our consultation, our client agreed to upgrade all of the trim, door frames, staircase spindles and baseboards.

The upgrade refreshed the space with the finishes of a new build.

Furnishings Make the Space
We transformed the great room into a space for the family to gather and relax. The chunky metal furnishings give it a modern feel.

The Fireplace Challenge and Solution
The great room fireplace was a challenge. Because the fireplace dimensions are narrow and high, the stonework didn’t scale well and seemed busy.

The Design Connection, Inc. team refaced the fireplace with 2’ x 4’ tiles that look like marble slabs. This former problem space now adds interest and elegance to the room.

We also gave a family curio cabinet a facelift with paint in a complimentary tone. This favorite piece now integrates seamlessly into the new space. The crowning glory is the large chandelier to add lots of light!
Whatever challenges you faced in 2020, we hope that you also found the silver linings in your lives. I am grateful for my relationship with each of you. On behalf of the entire Design Connection, Inc. team, I wish you and your families health and happiness in the New Year.
Our best to you all,
