What is Refined Rustic? An upgrade from the recycled-materials look that embodies Industrial-Style, Refined Rustic brings an elegant look with a vintage vibe… a weathered feel with a high-end impact.

Washed Woods:

Gray-washed woods are one of my favorite interior design trends; a trend that is continuing to gain momentum. In this wine cellar project, I selected a weathered oak finish and carried this look through the wine cellar and tasting areas, using the same coloration on the floors, and cement gray paint on the walls and ceiling. A Cambria Quartz countertop with a chipped edge and a customized cabinet houses the various sizes of glasses used for different wines.

An elegant look with a vintage vibe… a weathered feel with a high-end impact!

I also featured gray-washed island and cabinets in this kitchen remodel. Perfect for transitional-style spaces, using elements of Refined Rustic allows me to maintain a tailored, high-end look without appearing “too polished”.

Mixing Metals and Woods:

Mixing smooth woods with strong metal elements can also be easily translated as a Refined Rustic look, like the Davidson Console from Charleston Forge, with its perfect balance of wood and metal.

Live edge tables bring a polished reclaimed component, and when paired with quality metals, will provide a stunning Refined Rustic element to your home’s design. The Live Edge Console Table by Hooker does just that.

It’s amazing how changing the color of the glass and metals can really affect the entire look of a room. Take the Grayfor by Urban Electric Co for example. Here it is with two different looks:

The Kensington also has a variety of looks depending on the finishes you choose.
