8 No-Fail Christmas Decor Ideas
From breathing new life into your old Christmas ornaments to creating a tree you never thought possible, we’ve got some SUPER EASY and beautiful alternative Christmas décor ideas that will knock your stockings off!
Every year I hit up the after-Christmas sales and scoop up some great deals on holiday décor. Because of this (totally healthy) habit, Christmas in the Ladegaard House always has a different look than the years before. This also means that I have managed to attain a mass amount of Christmas decorations. While I love to get creative with different themes and color schemes each year, that reason alone is not enough to justify the collection of glass bulb ornaments I have acquired. But, if I were to incorporate all of said “extra” ornaments into my decor, I should be able to carry on with my Boxing Day shopping tradition guilt-free. Right?

Create a garland from your overstock of shiny bulb ornaments, like the gorgeous example above by Pretty Quirky. This glistening garland can be placed across the fireplace mantle, along with the staircase, over the doorway, adorning the window, or just about anywhere you’d like for an extra bit of Christmas spirit. The garland pictured above was created by simply threading the bulbs through a ribbon. This, my friends, is my kind of DIY; SUPER EASY with a fabulous end result!

Don’t stop at the garland–create a dazzling wreath from your mismatched bulbs like this one pictured above. With a little bit of hot glue and a few glass bulbs (approx. 140), you can complete this Holiday wreath in less than an hour. The only question is where to put it–On the front door, above the fireplace or as the centerpiece for your holiday spread? Get the directions here.

These centerpieces are even easier to make, with two simple steps in each project. Step 1. Place empty fruit bowl or hurricane vase on the table. Step 2. Fill with shiny bulb ornaments. Easy to make and instantly festive. See even more of my favorite and all-too-easy Christmas centerpiece ideas here.

Centerpieces are a great way to decorate your tabletop throughout the year. When you are hosting a large family feast, centerpieces can quickly go from a beautiful accessory to a beautiful speed bump when passing dishes and holding multiple conversations. Keep your tabletop clear and elevate your holiday centerpiece by hanging ornaments from your chandelier. Just like all of the DIY Christmas creations I am sharing today, transforming your light fixture into a Holiday centerpiece is SUPER EASY. If you can tie your shoes, you can make this. Really, all it takes is tying a bow with some ribbon!

While perusing Pinterest for inspiration on how to utilize my extensive ornament collection, I found myself (2 hours later) captivated with a different way of decorating for the Holidays: Alternative Christmas Trees. Did you know that you can make a Christmas Tree out of just about anything? Even ladders!

By using alternative Christmas trees, you can tastefully add a touch of Christmas spirit to every room in your home. I absolutely love the idea of making a Christmas tree out of items you already have in your home. Who doesn’t own books?

Wall decals have come a long way these past few years. Not only are they insanely affordable, you can take them off, reposition and reuse them time after time, year after year. The Frosted Christmas tree wall decal pictured above ($135) comes with 100 LED lights! How cool is that!? Because the decals take up zero floor space, you can be short on square footage without being short on Holiday spirit. Check out our Pinterest page for even more wall decal ideas.

There is nothing more magical than Christmas lights twinkling in the reflection of a child’s eyes. With that said, the mere thought of those cute little hands all over my glass ornaments immediately sends me into defense mode. Can you relate? Why not give the tiny ones in your life a Christmas tree of their very own? From wall decals to DIY felt cut-outs, they can have a blast and get creative by placing, pawing and tasting their OWN ornaments. This is a fantastic idea for Grandma and Grandpa’s house!
