Dream Kitchen Must-Haves
This week, the interior design pros at Design Connection, Inc. are sharing our favorite Dream Kitchen Must-Haves. With resources like Houzz and Pinterest at our fingertips, you may already have Ideabooks and Boards full of ideas for your dream home. But creating your dream kitchen is so much more than selecting soft-close cabinets, ideal appliances and favorite countertops! Great design is all about the details, especially in a hardworking room like the kitchen. If you are planning to update, renovate or remodel your kitchen, don’t let these little conveniences become an afterthought in your design!
We hear a lot of requests for “open kitchens” from our clients. The kitchens of today are very much a part of the main living space. With this streamlined approach to your interior design, it is important to also streamline your storage. The coffee maker and toaster oven, utensil crock and dish towel, as convenient as they may be on the countertop, can interrupt the flow of your open kitchen. CLUTTER. Make sure everything in your kitchen has its place and allow for easy access with these great design ideas:
Save your drawer space and hide your extensive spice collection behind your marble backsplash like this design by Mick De Giulio.
When you’re designing your new kitchen, think about the different work zones you will have and design your cabinets with that in mind. Instead of walking across the kitchen from your dishwasher to your overhead cabinets, why not store your dishes in a drawer right next to the dishwasher?
There is no need to clang and bang when retrieving pots and pans, or break a sweat bending over searching for a lost lid with pull-out drawers located next to your stove.
No matter how much counter space we have in our kitchens, there are times when we wish we had more. There is no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen with a smart rolling cart like this that hides within the island. I love that this cart can be wheeled throughout the kitchen to give multiple cooks room for meal prep and table staging.
We have so many more design ideas that will put your kitchen to work for you. Check out our Houzz Ideabooks and Pinterest Boards to help you on your way to creating the kitchen of your dreams.
