It isn’t hard to notice that Kansas City has cooled down and Fall is upon us. Chilly mornings and nights means it’s time to pull out the boots and wrap your neck up with those scarves that have been patiently waiting at the back of the closet for the past few months. As you add new pieces of clothing to your wardrobe, consider a couple of changes around your home to create a fashionable fall home wardrobe.

Design Connection, Inc. has selected a few 2012 Fall Fashion Trends that you can take from your closet to your living room.

Colors. Fashion is often inspired by mother nature. As the colors turn darker and bolder in nature, we see how they influence all types of designers. Fall takes us from bright vibrant colors, to richer deeper ones. We are going to see a lot of teal, purple and orange this season both in fashion and interior design.  Fashion and interior design have always been connected. Check out these fun chairs from I.O. Metro that compliment these new fall fashion outfits.
Classics with at Twist. Everyone loves polka dots. These can be worn in all seasons, from Summer to Winter. But the secret to how to make them pop this Fall is to steer away from the smaller, subtler dots, and go BIG! Go big and go bold.

Another trick is to use bright color and scale to make this forever classic modern once again. In your home we found a beautiful side table from Z Gallerie, the Ciambella Table. It’s bold, graphic and super stylish. This table energizes your contemporary decor with shiny nickel-plated aluminum in a most definitive design.
Graphic Patterns: The next trend we love is the Graphic Sheath Dress. This is the perfect way to combine a classic, feminine shape with a cooler, more millennial print. Flattering on any body shape, it’s sexy and fun.

Many designers have the equivalent of this dress for your bedroom. Here Pottery Barn has their Cascais Duvet cover, inspired by women in India who decorate their hands with intricate henna patterns for special occasions, this stunning bedding evokes those designs with its swirling floral motifs and earth toned palette.

Back to Basics: The last trend for today is the patterned pencil skirt. This mean and lean skirt is a basic in any women’s wardrobe, but a patterned pencil skirt gives it plenty of personality to go around. It pairs easily with over basics from your closet from a skinny sweater to a slouchy cardigan.

In a home you can easily reupholster an old chair to add a pop of a fun new pattern. Take a look at how dramatic the transformation can be. We carry CR Laine furniture and fabrics in our office. Check out some of the great pieces of furniture they carry.
