Be it a great room, living room, TV room or family room, it’s gotta be comfortable! By updating the furnishings, this family’s great room went from being ignored and to becoming the hub of the home. Check out these Before & After pics and see how we accomplished this new look:

When moving in to this gorgeous 2008 Arts and Crafts-style home, my clients’ furniture from their old house moved in with them. Their great room had great potential, but the furniture did not fit the space. No matter how they rearranged their furniture, it seemed, the old sofa had an awkward and uncomfortable feel. Over time, the family found themselves gravitating towards the comfort of the master bedroom suite. Longing to reclaim their bedroom and relocate the family’s central gathering place back to the great room, these homeowners called on me to help.

Before Great Room

As with all of our projects, from complex new construction builds to selecting new furnishings, like this project, a space plan is created. This to-scale floor plan allows us to account for every inch of space and ensures that the new furnishings are sized perfectly for each unique space. Because this great room is open to the dining area and will be used for lots of lounging, hanging out and TV watching, a new sofa was required to rejuvenate this space. Keeping their growing, energetic children in mind, a large sectional was selected and clothed in a soft, neutral-colored high-performance fabric that will stand the test of time. By selecting a neutral colored sectional, the homeowners can easily change up their look throughout the years and enjoy playing with different color schemes and trends simply by changing out the throw pillow covers.

A soft, wool area rug set the colors and style for this large space. Additional seating with style includes a large fabric ottoman as well as two swivel chairs in rich, brown, high quality leather with large nailhead embellishments. The while the large sectional defines the great room, linen window treatments in a sheer fabric softens this open space, adding balance, harmony and flow.
