Haul Out the Holly: Our Favorite Christmas Tree Ideas
It’s December. ALREADY. Is your Christmas tree up yet? Don’t worry! We’re here to help get you AND your home in the Holiday Spirit. Check out the Christmas trees that inspired us to haul out the holly this week:
With multiple interior design projects in a constant state of motion, my day-to-day life is often fast paced and jam-packed with details. In order to decompress, re-charge and reconnect, my husband and I forgo the added stress of organizing a Thanksgiving feast and escape to Hawaii every November.
You would think Hawaii would be the last place one would go to get into the Christmas Spirit, but it works for me every year! On the Big Island, everyone puts up their Christmas trees throughout the week of Thanksgiving. As I slowly eased into the pace of the Island, I slowly eased into the Christmas Spirit as well.
Even the traditional Christmas trees have a touch of Hawaii, from tropical foliage and large flowers to orchid ornaments and garlands made of leis.
Whether your tree is filled with keepsake ornaments collected throughout the years, a themed tree wrapped in perfectly placed ribbon, or a combination of the two, there really is no wrong way to decorate your tree. Have fun with it! Have more than one! Put one in your guest room! Seriously, put a Christmas tree in your guest room.

Instead of the usual string of popcorn, create your own glittered wood letter garland like this example below by TomKat Studios. Get the easy DIY instructions here.

You don’t have to live in a tropical destination in order to pull off a colorful tree. Remember, there is no wrong way to decorate your Christmas tree. If you feel it, go with it! This gradient rainbow-inspired Christmas tree by Michael at Inspired By Charm is a great example on how to mix-up your look with what you’ve already got.

If you’re having a hard time envisioning your Christmas Tree anything other than traditional, take a cue from Elsa and Let It Go with a Frozen-inspired theme. You can easily replicate this look by using all white ornaments, snowflakes and icicles, turquoise baubles and a purple ribbon.

I have a LOT of friends who will be celebrating birthdays this month. (Thanks for the reminders, Facebook!) I’ve seen a few lighthearted status updates reminding everyone to use birthday wrapping paper, NOT Christmas paper, when wrapping their gifts. This next tree made me think of those of you whose birthdays may be an afterthought to the holiday-hub-bub. A PARTY TREE!

I hope that I’ve inspired you to haul out the holly, trim the tree, hang the mistletoe and shout, “Kiss Me, it’s Christmas!”. No matter what your style, we’ve got a TON of easy and beautiful Christmas home decor ideas on our Pinterest page. Happy Holidays and Happy Birthday, December Babies!
