Home Office Design Ideas for Small Spaces
Do you have a dedicated office space in your home? The dining room table does not count! We’ve got some great design ideas that will help you create the perfect home office, especially if you are short on space.
Having a room reserved exclusively for your home office is ideal, but not always attainable. If creating an addition to your home is out of the question, you shouldn’t have to wait until the kids go off to college to make your home office dreams come true.
Let’s start with the hardest working room in the home; the kitchen. If you’ve got a nook or a cranny in your kitchen, you’ve got computer space. Creating a specific workspace in the kitchen is high on the list for many of our kitchen renovations at Design Connection, Inc. Having a computer in the kitchen makes it easy to refer to recipes, pay bills while you bake, and more importantly, allows you carry your Netflix marathon from the living room to the kitchen.
If you aren’t a fan of showcasing media in your kitchen, hide it! What looks like a pantry or kitchen cabinetry can discreetly keep your computer and paperwork out of sight.

Choosing to create an office space within your bedroom can be a bold move. It’s hard enough already to leave work AT work. Who wants to bring work home, passed the dinner table and into the bedroom? Not ME! If your home office space must be shared with sleeping quarters, concealing it can keep your bedroom the relaxing oasis that is should be. You may need to compromise on closet space, but the end result will be worth the purge!

With any interior design, space planning is key. I love secret rooms and hidden storage and I love designs that are smart, right down to the last square foot like this under-stair office by Austin based Butter Lutz Interiors.

If all of your rooms are spoken for or are just not conducive to your home office needs, consider moving up. We love working our space planning and interior designing magic on attic spaces at Design Connection, Inc. We can make a stylish space for your home office and transform your dusty ol’ attic into a beautiful space that fits your needs.
