Powder Room Perfection: A Design Connection, Inc. Featured Project
It’s amazing what a big impact a little bit of redesign can have on a small space! Don’t believe me? Check out this powder room remodel—-a small space that had stunning results! Oftentimes, the smallest rooms in our homes are overlooked in the grand scheme of redecorating and remodeling. For instance, think of the powder room. Typically a high traffic area in any home, yet for all its practical use, this little space is often one of the least attractive.
Wallpapers with vertical stripes can be a great option for powder rooms. Vertical lines tend to draw the eyes up, giving small spaces the illusion of being taller and larger. But making your small powder room appear larger isn’t as simple as “going vertical”. Color plays a HUGE role! This “Before” powder room is a great example.
While the dark green background with deep red and gold stripes had the sophisticated, stately look that my clients desired, the color and pattern combination ultimately overpowered this small space.
The old wallpaper and vanity was removed and the wood floors were darkened. In addition to the new grey cabinet, a smooth Cambria Quartz countertop and new under-mount sink were also installed.
Even before the new mirror and accessories were placed, the new wallpaper immediately made this powder room feel lighter, brighter, and larger!
After living in their home for 12 years, my clients had grown tired of the Tuscan-style décor and deep colors; they longed for clean lines, darker woods, crisp whites, and soothing greys. Having each room flow from one space into the next was also a design element they desired for their “new” home.
This powder room was just one small space in our latest first floor remodel. See the amazing kitchen transformation here!
