Would you believe me if I told you that Design Connection, Inc. completed this project ten years ago? I still do a double take when I see these pictures, mainly because this is a great example of timeless design. Our clients recently retired and were moving out of town. We had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful residence before it was being placed on the market to sell.

The story begins, with our clients interesting work/living arrangement’s. They owned an insurance office in Kansas City, Missouri with an apartment above it. They had lived there for many years and wanted to update it to look like a contemporary loft.

We began the project by re-configuring the architectural space. To create a loft feel, we created an open floor plan, raised the ceiling and created a dome shape. The challenge was making the kitchen and bar area be part of the living space and with furniture we still wanted it to seem spacious.

The kitchen in this very contemporary living space was interesting to develop. It needed to be high because of the vaulted ceilings. We incorporated a seating area attached to the countertops to take up less room and be integrated into the kitchen area. The beautiful maple cabinets were designed to incorporate a refrigerator and freezer drawers to look seamless. The island was designed to look like it floated from the floor with special lighting.

The monorail lighting was special and used for accent lighting. The bar area with an extra wine refrigerator was used for storage and added a beautiful accent piece to the space. This home has stood the test time and is considered classic in design.

Design Connection Inc, Kansas City interior design provided kitchen design, space planning, countertops, plumbing, appliance, cabinet selections and Interior Design Kansas City.

The key to good design is to start with a space plan. The clients had big requests for this small bathroom.  After playing with many shapes when space planning the design we discovered a corner shower was the perfect solution and could accommodate the separate his and her vanities.

To keep the bathroom light and airy we used floating glass tops on the white vanities. The glass tops had custom molded sinks that were held up by stainless steel tubes. The white tile surround of the room makes the space seem very large. Extra storage with glass shelves adds interest and extra storage for various sundries.

After living in Europe I was pleased to have my clients interested in a toilet where the plumbing is built in the wall. It was the perfect choice and just right for this beautiful high end bathroom.

Design Connection, Inc. provided space planning and Kansas City interior design as well as bathroom design along with tile, plumbing fixtures, glass molded sinks and European glass shower surrounds.

The clean sleek design carried through to the closet as well
